Today I accidentally slept past breakfast, leaving Brittany... awkwardly alone to eat by herself. I felt so bad! My roommate left at 9:15 and woke me to make sure I would get up. Unfortunately my alarm clock is about as loud as a pin drop so I woke up at 10:30 all flustered. Since I missed breakfast I went across the street to the super market, grabbed an egg and cress sandwich with some yogurt and brought it back to my room to find Jeeves and Wooster playing on television which was one of the shows I used to watch as a kid. Definitely not a show you picture a child enjoying but it brought back my childhood! The guy who is in it is currently House from well.. the show House!
We departed at one to begin our tour of Dublin. I wish we had taken this yesterday and had a free day today so that I would be able to know what sights I wanted to see and where to go. Our tour guide was so cute, she was this old lady who sung us the Irish drinking song but it sounded like a siren singing beautiful melodies. I realized the importance of some of the things I took pictures of. The spire I spoke of yesterday I heard was called the "Stiletto of the Ghetto". Apparently that area is ghetto but I can't tell the difference between the ghetto and non-ghetto areas. We passed by the famous doors of Dublin. The people inside the office of a really nice door opened it up and slammed it on us as we were taking pictures. I guess they didn't enjoy all of the tourists by their door. We also stopped by St. Patrick's Cathedral. I finally got to light a candle for my Popo (my grandmother) and buy a rosary. Everything inside was very pretty, with a lot of monuments, and beautiful stained glass. Afterward we were brought to the biggest park in the world called Phoenix park, stopped off in the center and ate at a really yummy cafe where we had coffee and I ate quiche. The tour was a lot of fun, but then I had class. We headed across the city to DIT (Dublin Institute of Technology) where we had two students, Bridget and Aubry, talk to us about how they broke into the industry in Dublin. They are still a little behind when it comes to technology. The Internet is not their main source for news, people still resort to newspapers. Unlike in America where Internet plays a big part in spreading news and newspaper is pretty much dead. The rest of my day consisted of KFC with the ladies in the lobby and having a whole night's worth of conversation with Daniella and Isa. Tomorrow we are going to Glendalough which looks amazing. I enjoy the simple countryside of Ireland and I think that is what our destination will be like. I have to go to bed soon so I don't sleep through my alarm clock again! Pip Pip, Leah

I love the pictures from inside St. Patrick's! How did you get pictures from inside the cathedral? Normally you would be kicked out for that! You must have been sneaky. I can't wait to see pictures from Glendalough it should be amazing! Have fun!!
ReplyDeleteP.S The food in Ireland doesn't seem to be the gross food that most encounter when leaving the country!
